SPOILED GIRL

Season 8

Episode 38

(My luckiest day)

Emily heard the voice and came running in as fast as she could, "What's going on? Why is the baby crying?"

Jacob looked at her guiltily and said, "I don't know. Maybe he is hungry?"

Emily frowned and suddenly an awful smell stung her nose. After looking closely, she found that Jacob's clothed had shades of yellow stains on them.    "Well, I know what it is. Bowen pooped on you."

Jacob's expression stagnated for a moment. He looked down slowly in utter horror and his face darkened, "You brat..."

"Watch you tongue! Don't speak to your son like that." Emily snapped at Jacob, like a lioness defending its cub, and quickly took Bowen off Jacob. "Go and get changed, quick! The smell is starting to give me a headache!"

Jacob opened his mouth to complain but retracted halfway.

'Isn't my son dirtier than I am? Have you forgotten about your husband as soon as your son arrived?'

Disgruntled, Jacob left to get a bath and a change of clothes. However, just as he stepped out of the bathroom, Emily dropped a bag of dirty diapers in front of him and said, "Please, wash the diapers too."

Again, Jacob opened his mouth to complain but he retracted halfway.

 'Okay, I'll do it.

You brat, just you wait and see.'

In the following months, Bowen grew up to be a healthy baby boy causing much grievance to his father. While, Emily's recovery progressed slowly and steadily. As a result, the wedding ceremony was gradually put on the agenda.

Jacob gave all his time and effort into planning and organizing a fabulous wedding for the the love of his life.

Taking into consideration that fact that the baby was still too young to travel, the ceremony was to be held near Tyrone Mansion.

On the day of their much anticipated wedding, Jacob stood in front of the mirror for what seemed to be hours, nervously staring at himself and the tailored suit he was wearing. Perhaps, he had been waiting for this moment to come for a very long time, and now that it was finally here, it felt surreal. On the contrary, Emily looked more relaxed, dressed in a traditional, snowy white wedding gown with matching head dress and a bouquet of flowers in her hands.

She thought about all the hardships the both of them hard to overcome, and after everything that had happened, her experiences had made her a stronger and better person. Today represented the culmination of all their efforts and she was as ready as she could ever be.

Beryl, in her flower-boy's clothes, stood beside and laughed, "Daddy, you and mommy are old married couples. Why do you still look so nervous? I can't stop laughing at how cute you guys are."

Jacob glanced at her from the side, "Old married couples? Where did you learn that from? You mother and I are going to be lovers forever. We're nothing like old married couples."

Beryl stuck her tongue out and rolled her eyes at him, "Sorry, I made a mistake. I should have said and old husband and a young wife! Daddy, you look like an old uncle now, but mommy is still a beautiful young lady!"

"Beryl." Jacob pretended to be annoyed and gave Beryl a run as she turned around and scampered away like a little rabbit.

Emily looked at them from a distance and smiled. The day she had been looking forward to was finally here.

Everything about today felt like a gift from God. It would stand as a testament to their love story.

Emily would cherish every bit of this moment and treasure it for the rest of her life.

The final moment was upon them, and no matter how nervous it made them both they still had to see this day through.

Every prominent news and media outlets across the entire country were broadcasting Jacob and Emily's wedding live. The sky was set ablaze with mesmerizing fireworks, exploding with vibrant colors which sky-writes the word "Love" every time in the sky.

The rose-adorned wedding venue included a traditional elegant canopy with bright white curtains, and unobstructed panoramic views of the breathtaking sunset. The entire place buzzed with excited chatter and children ran between the tables in a good natured game of tag. Then the bride and groom entered, walking on the red carpet, as applause spread across the room. There was the scraping of chairs as folks got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way, smiling and holding hands.

The famous song, "Dream Wedding by Richard Clayderman", started to play, the sound of which rushing in and around every person in the room, filling their hearts with love. This spectacular wedding was not only the dream wedding of Emily and Jacob, it was also the dream wedding of every couple in Jingshi City who were in love with each other.

"Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of Emily and Jacob in holy matrimony. In the years they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife. Do you take the person standing in front of you to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?" When the Minister set forth the marriage vows, all the people at the scene went silent.

Emily peered into the eyes of the man standing in front of her—Her lover; her friend; and her knight in shining armour, as ecstasy filled her heart and tears of joy flowed from both eyes.

Everything felt like it had been cut out from a fairytale.

Her dream came true at last.

While, Jacob gazed dreamily into her eyes, as every part of him screamed, pledging his undying love for the woman of his dreams. Although they had been together for a long time, he was looking to spend the rest of his life by her side.

At long last, Emily was finally his, and he was hers, forever and ever!

This wedding was a representation of their promise to be there for each other until the end of time.

"I do." The couple spoke in one voice while they looked at each other. The rest of the world faded in the background.    They had just made the most solemn commitment to each other.

Suddenly, the guests cheered and shouted, "Kiss her! What are you waiting for? Kiss!"

Jacob smiled and wrapped his arms around Emily's slender waist. Her heart skipped a beat but she didn't react.

Exhilarated by the tension between them, Jacob gently leaned in and kissed her soft lips. The tip of his tongue touched hers and sucked in to taste all her sweetness.

The kiss froze time between them, as the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. She could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.

The crowd broke into applause, bringing the couple back to the real world. The heart-warming display of affection between the two drew some jealousy, as some even regretted asking them to kiss. In truth, Emily and Jacob were a pair that deserved to be admired and envied at the same time.

Most of the women amongst the guests that saw Emily were green with envy.    When they had heard that Jacob had a son with her, they all assumed that she seduced him with some dirty tricks and was later using the child to threaten him.

But they never thought that Jacob would actually marry her.

The news of their marriage broke hearts all over Jingshi City. In order to catch a glimpse of Mrs. Gu's looks, they came to the wedding ceremony with a broken heart, sending their blessings reluctantly.

But... How could the newly-married Mrs. Gu be so beautiful?

Looking at her snow-white skin, willow waist, the perfect body shape and the graceful temperament... 'Comparisons are odious!'

Most people felt as though the couple did not need them to wish them happiness, as they seemed to have enough of it! Hmph!

The people on the stage were sweet and happy, while the people under the stage delved in their own happiness and sorrows. Amidst all the celebration, everyone failed to notice the two lonely men standing in the corner looking at the bride and groom, despairingly.

Magee tugged his lip, the corners of the mouth twitching upwards, tentatively, exploring the reaches of a smile that hadn't been seen in several decades. "Are you done? Haven't you seen enough yet?"

Myron pursed his lips as if he were holding back something and his fists clenched tightly. "I, I wanna take one more look at her."

He was no longer the silly and foolish Donny from the mountain village. He still remembered his fondness for Emily, the fairy that was never meant to be his.

Perhaps she had completely forgotten about him.

Magee sighed with resignation, slumping his shoulders. It was not like he was in love with Emily; somehow he just didn't feel comfortable seeing her getting married to another man.

However, he didn't know just how strongly Myron felt about Emily. Myron's case was worse than his.

Emily was like the brightest star in the sky which they could never have, even though their hearts were constantly longing for her. However, they were here to leave behind all concerns and regrets.

Even if they were not really reconciled, they both had the same wish at the moment. They hoped that she could stay happy for the rest of her life.

After a while, they both left quietly. Standing on the stage and staring out into the crowd, Emily seemed to have been in deep contemplation.

Jacob asked her softly, "What are you thinking about?"

Emily shook her head and laughed, "Nothing. Just now I had a feeling as though someone was watching us."

Jacob brushed his lips to hers and said, "Let it be."

'Emily, my love, you make me feel like the luckiest man in the world. My greatest achievement in life was getting to know you.'
