 Me And My Daddi

Season 6

Episode 5

“Yes. Please do and be careful, honey. It would break our hearts if anything happened to you.”

Nia felt tears sting her eyelids. It had been a long time since anyone cared about her. Her father had, but he had his disease to deal with for so long he didn’t have the energy to be a parent. That had fallen on her.

“That is very nice. Thank you. I’ll call you later.”

Aleena stood beside him with a worried look on her face. He pulled her into his arms.

“She’s going to be okay, baby.”

His heart always tightened with emotion when she cuddled against him and depended on him to take care of everything.

“She’s a little stubborn. But I guess she’s had to be. She’s been taking care of her and her daddy for years.”

Kaleb squeezed her. “Now, she’ll have someone to take care of her.”

Aleena looked up at him.

“Thank you, daddy.”

He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “You’re very welcome.

“What are you going to do?” she asked.

“Let’s go to the office. I’ve got a few calls to make.”

He’d have Nia caught and taken care of within the next few hours, and he knew just the people to call.

Nia’s stomach dropped when a highway patrol car pulled up behind her on the highway, put their lights on, and then used sirens when she didn’t immediately pull over. She looked down.

“I’m not even speeding, for God’s sake.” She cringed when she heard the officer over the loudspeaker, telling her to pull over.

She pulled off on the shoulder, parked, rolled down her window, and waited. She looked up at the officer who came to stand beside her and stare down at her.

“What did I do?”

“Are you Nia Langley?”

“Yes, what did I do?”

“Can you step out of the car, please?”

“What? Why? I swear I’ve never broken the law in my life.” She narrowed her eyes when she caught his mouth twitch.

“Step out of the car, ma’am.”

“Can you arrest someone for no reason?”

“You’re not being arrested.”

She squeaked when he opened her door, unsnapped her seatbelt, and helped her out. He pulled her to the back of her car.

That was when she noticed another patrol car pull up behind the first one, and then two men step out. “Oh, my God.”

“Just relax, miss.”
