 Season 7

Episode 57

(A taste of his own medicine)

The dimly lit room was thick with tension. Sean was the first to realize what was going on. He asked his subordinates to release Jacob and walked towards Emily, "Cloris, I can explain."

Shock was written all over Emily's face as she couldn't believe what she saw.

"Brother! Why are you doing to Seventh?"    In this kind of situation, any explanation would sound farfetched, but Sean continued anyway. "Hey, listen. I just wanted to cure him, but I can't do that if he won't cooperate. You wanted him to regain his memory, right?"

However, Emily couldn't trust him after she saw the things he did to Jacob. She dubiously asked, "Why? Why at this time? It's already midnight. He was seized by these people…  And, what are these white pills? You owe me an explanation, my brother!"

Sean hesitated for a moment. Finally, he was about to say something, but Jacob cut him off.

"Sister, I don't wanna eat it. I don't know what it is. I'm scared..." he said and pretended to be nervous.

He successfully fooled Emily. Her heart ached when she saw him tremble like that, so she drew him to her and tried to protect him, "I got you! Don't be afraid. I'll protect you, and no one can force you to eat it!"

"Sister..." Jacob held on tight to Emily's hand.

Meanwhile, Sean felt the rising, bubbling anger in his veins. 'Jacob, you dirty rat! Pretending to be innocent in front of my Cloris, huh!' he thought.

"You haven't told me what these white pills are!" Emily exclaimed. She wouldn't stop questioning until she got an explanation.

Sean couldn't do anything as he knew that he couldn't escape her questions. "They're nothing special, just medicine that would help him remember. I won't force him to take it if he doesn't want it,"  he said.

"Yeah?" Emily stared at her brother and somehow felt like he was a stranger. "If that's true, may I try one?" she asked with a smile.

The guards who kept the pills had received Sean's orders and were about to leave the place, so Emily took a pill when they walked past her. To test her brother, she pretended she would take it.

"No! Don't!" Sean and Jacob shouted at the same time.

They were afraid that Emily might take it, so they tried to take over the pill at the same time. Sean was faster. He was about to thank the heavens in relief but stopped when he saw Emily's disappointed face.

'Well…' his heart thumped.

Emily took a step forward and stared at Sean, her eyes filled with complex emotions. "Why are you so nervous? You told me it was nothing special! Did you lie to me?"

"No, I didn't lie…" Sean answered with guilt. He didn't even believe his own words.

Emily didn't believe him as well and said, "Why did you do this to him? He has nothing against you! Why?" "You know that he's my best friend…" she added.

However, Sean sneered at her words.    'Well, why did I did this to him? He has nothing against me huh?' he thought.

'No, we actually hate each other so much! I will let him go, but the thing is--will he let me go?' he thought to himself again. 'And my Cloris, he's here for you!

He wants you! How could I possibly let him off?' he mentally exclaimed.

Silence hung heavily in the air like a thick blanket.

"I am very disappointed in you brother..." Emily muttered. She was weary and sad.

She remembered when Jacob asked her before if she believed that Sean wanted to hurt him.

What was her answer then?

She told him that her brother was a decent man and would never do something like that! But now, reality had slapped her in the face.

"Cloris, it's not what you think…" Sean said hastily. He panicked when he sensed Emily's distress. He hated it when she was like that. He wanted her to trust him and rely on him like she used to.

His brows furrowed in anger when he thought about it.

'Jacob ruined everything! Damn it, he ruined everything!' he thought with remorse.

Now, Sean appeared to have made his decision. He clutched the pill tightly, then suddenly put it into his mouth and swallowed it.

Everyone was stunned by his actions, especially Emily. For a moment, she didn't know what to say.

Suddenly, her eyes were filled with alarm. "Brother! What did you do! Why did you take it?" she panicked.

"I just wanna prove to you that the pills aren't toxic."

The words barely came out of his mouth as her distrust hurt him.

Emily couldn't help but feel guilty. She didn't mean to make him take the pill, but she was still confused. "Why didn't you just let me take it?"

Sean managed to curve his lips into a smile and said, "The medicine won't actually hurt your body, but you have been always frail, and I won't let you risk it. However, I'm strong…" "Anyway, I won't joke about my health, so trust me now okay?" he added.

"I am sorry..." However, Emily hadn't gotten over the shock yet. "I should have trusted you. It's just…" she muttered.

"It's okay. As long as you believed me." She was about to say something again, but Sean raised a hand against her lips and stopped her. "Don't feel bad. I promise I won't do anything that would upset you. It's too late. let me send you home."

Emily still had a lot to say, but she couldn't even make a sound at the sight of his loving eyes. She quietly nodded in agreement.

'What a show, ' Jacob thought with a cynical smirk on his face.

'Good job Sean, you are such a genius! You took the pill yourself to earn her trust!' he thought again. But were these white pills toxic?

Of course, there was something wrong with the pills since Sean would have given the pills to Jacob. He didn't expect that Emily came or he would have to take the pill just to prove his innocence.

Ironically, he was the one who took it and not Jacob. He literally had a taste of his own medicine.

After Sean sent Emily and Jacob back to their quarters, he went straight to his room.

He laid down on the soft bed and covered himself with the heavy quilt. However, it didn't work. He trembled uncontrollably, and he felt the coldness seep into his bones!

An alarming tightness and deadly fatigue squeezed his chest. The white pill had worked.

Sean grabbed the sheets so tightly that his veins stood out under his skin. He occasionally groaned in agony as the pain was killing him.

He was a tough man, but he barely survived the whole ordeal. But after the pain, he felt like he was floating in the air!

He enjoyed the euphoric sensation that felt like the limbo between sleeping and walking. The pill had hallucinogenic effects.

He saw Emily walked towards him with bare feet. She smiled brightly and kept calling him brother with her sweet voice, which melted his heart.

It was such a wonderful dream!

Soon after, he woke up and realized that the reality was now his nightmare.

He was addicted to the pills.

No one knew the pills better than he did. He knew that there was no way to get off the drug once one got hooked on it. It was why he wanted to fed Jacob the pill--he wanted to control him!

Never did he thought that he would take it!

Damn it! Damn it!

It was all Jacob's fault! Every time Sean remembered what previously happened, he wanted to tear Jacob from limb to limb! Everything that was related to Jacob fueled his hatred.
