SPOILED GIRL

 SEASON 6

EPISODE 90

(She gave up hope)

"Ah!" Pain throbbed so violently in Emily's head that it felt as if someone had taken a knife to her skull. Squeezing her eyes shut, Emily willed the pain to go away.    Emily was a helpless prisoner in her cage of pain.

She breathed deeply so as to calm herself down, but the longer the pain took to dissipate, the less calm she felt.
Time seemed to pass slower than usual as there was no light here.

After Emily had lost track of time, she could no longer tell what time of the day it was. She felt like someone had pushed her down the abyss, endlessly spiralling down into nothingness.

Why? Why would she have to suffer all this?

Had she done something wrong? All she wanted was to protect the one she loved so as to keep their love alive. Why couldn't God grant her that one wish she had?

Giving up was starting to seem like a justifiable option.

Emily was caught in a tug of war in her mind, between the angel that represented conscience and the demon that represented self-interest.

The demon in her head said to her, "He has always treated you badly. What's the point of holding on to such a man? This man is no longer the Jacob who used to love you! He is another person now! The Jacob who loved you died a long time ago!"

The angel, however, expressed its disagreement. "Pfft! That's nonsense! Jacob will always be Jacob! Somebody tampered with his memory. If you give up on him now, there will be no one left who can save him. Don't give up!"

War between the two sides waged on in her head, and she got caught up in the violent crossfire.

The rest of the world became detached. All she could concentrate on was the pain rooted deep in her head, and she begged for release. "Shut up! Just stop talking!"

  Meanwhile, outside.

Jacob was watching Emily's every movement at the basement through the night vision surveillance cameras. She was curled up on the bedroom floor, with her hands covering her face, kicking and screaming in agony.

There were times when Jacob wanted to rush down to the basement to comfort that woman into his arms, but he tried very hard to restrain this impulsion.

He had to be strong, for the betterment of Emily.

Jacob had to make sure Emily knew the consequences of having a relationship with other men.

However, he got up abruptly and kicked the chair away when he saw Emily driving her head up against the wall repeatedly.

Emily was hurting herself. Jacob hadn't seen this coming!

Without wasting any time, he rushed out to the basement as fast as he could.

"Bang!" He kicked the door open.

The bright light from outside the room blinded Emily and she covered her eyes with her hands subconsciously.

Jacob shut the door behind him and strode towards Emily to pull her into his arms. "Emily!"

A stark contrast from previous situations, this time Emily resisted Jacob's embrace and struggled to get away from him. She slipped out and tried to smash her head against the wall again.

Jacob could never tolerate to watch her hurt herself, so he quickly pulled her into his arms again.

"Emily! Calm down!"

"Get out! Get the hell out of here!" Emily couldn't move her limbs as Jacob had her pinned down, so she sunk her teeth into his arm as if she had lost her sanity.
"Hiss..." Jacob took a deep breath to endure the pain, but he still didn't release her.

It never occurred to him that Emily would go completely off the rails after being locked in a small dark room. He didn't mean to lock her in for a week. It was only meant to be for one day so she feel remorse for what she had done.    However, it was beyond his expectation that it took only one day to change her into another person!

Jacob sensed her terrified state through her shaking body, and she still tried to push him away.

Strong emotions of regret began to spread in the bottom of his heart.

Jacob scrambled in his mind, trying to think of how to comfort Emily, but fortunately for him, she slowly came to by herself. With a quivery voice, she asked, "Jacob, why did you do this to me? Why?"

"Emily, don't be afraid..." At this point, Jacob knew his words had lost its weight.

"Get out!" Emily screamed and pushed Jacob away with an inexplicable strength that emerged out of pure adrenaline.

"Why have you become such a monster? You are nothing like my Jacob! You are not him! Why do you pretend to be him? Give him back to me! Give my lover back to me!"

Emily understood that she was just venting all the anger and frustration she had for others on him. She knew it wasn't Jacob's fault that his memory had been tampered with, but she desperately needed to release her emotions of sorrow and grievance.

"How could you forget all of our previous memories together? Even if your memory has been tampered with, what about our love? Are they all fake to you?"

Jacob listened to each of her words and his face turned pale. Suddenly, the shock seemed to cause the seed of memory sealed in his brain to sprout.

It seemed as though he was about to remember something, but a strong internal force prevented him from grasping the memory with his fingers, causing it to quickly fizzle out of his mind.

What the hell did he forget? His memory was tampered with?

Was Emily speaking the truth all along?    In the darkness, Emily's voice sounded miserable and desperate. "Jacob, do you know how it feels to be hated and despised by the person you love most? I know how it feels. It hurts so much that I don't know how long I can go on living like this. Perhaps it won't be too long... I only hope that if you regain your memories in the future and I'm already gone, you will come to realize that your hate towards me was unjustified."

Emily's words were like a gunshot to the heart of Jacob!

"No, I won't allow you to give up!" Jacob's eyes reddened as he grabbed her by the shoulders and desperately urged her, "Emily, I won't allow you to give up. Do you hear me?"

Suddenly, the fear of losing something very important to him gripped his body and he could no longer hide the panic inside his mind.

His doubts and regrets overwhelmed him from within.

As he was still confused about his feelings for Emily, he couldn't allow her to give up on him so easily! Wasn't she in love with him? Then she should continue to feel so.

"I'm sorry. I'm just tired." Emily's raspy voice was proof of her exhaustion. She was like a traveler who had walked a long way through the desert, only to give up on finding the oasis in the last minute.

Hope had left her before she could hold on.

It seemed as though this experience was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Jacob's pupils contracted sharply, and then a wave of thoughts surged up in his head, like a flood hitting all his nerves at once.

All the sweet and sour memories he had from the past came rushing into his head.

The excruciating pain made his face turn pale and the pain in his head came out like an uproar from his throat as he rolled around on the floor like a wounded animal.

What was that? Were these the memories he had lost?

He seemed to remember losing a great deal of memories from his past life. Who the hell was that person?

"E..m...i...l...y."

Jacob enunciated the name slowly in his mind as if it drained the life out of him to do so. "I remember."

 'I'm sorry, my love.'

Emily thought she was hallucinating, so she stayed put like a lifeless doll.

What did she hear just now.
