SPOILED GIRL

SEASON 5

EPISODE 76

(Treasure guarded by dragon)

The next day, Jack brought various kinds of rare flower seedlings for Emily so that she could plant them to kill time.

Unfortunately, Jack had business to take care of so he wasn't able to come back for several days.

However, Jack would always ask after Emily everyday.

The days passed by quickly. Although, Emily hadn't received any new messages on a leaf. She kept the old leaf with her so she could tell herself that it was all real and she was not going mad.

'I have to get in touch with the person who left me messages on this leaf, ' Emily thought in her mind.

Sadly, she was no closer to finding a solution yet. But soon she found another leaf with a new message written on it—
"It's me".

'It's me?

Who are you?'

Emily wondered.

The fact that these messages were vague and did not provide any useful information about its sender annoyed the wits out of her. Emily couldn't figure out who the sender was but she was certain that it must have been someone she knew.

Emily did not allow herself to assume that the person was Jacob as she really could not suffer from anymore disappointment.

She rubbed the leaf in her hand for quite some time and kept it with the other one inside a book, before she hid the book under her bed.

Emily had a strong feeling that the person would come for her for sure.

She kept waiting patiently from one day to the next. Even when she lay in bed at night, she'd sleep with one eye open.

Jack hadn't returned that night. It was the perfect opportunity for her to escape but Jack had increased the number of personnel he had watching over Emily's house. It would certainly make it more difficult for anyone to sneak in or out without permission.

"Creak." The door was pushed open slightly by someone from outside.

Emily could not help feeling nervous but still, she glimpsed at the door to quell her curiosity. Under the dim light, she saw a person standing in a maid's dress...

'Is this the maid who left those messages for me?' Emily thought in her mind.

Emily was so curious she got up and turned on the lights. Finally, she saw "her" face.

Much to her surprise, the person had shorter hair than she had expected. "Her" oddly, towering height and handsome face did not blend in well with the dress which eventually exposed the fact that "she" was actually a man disguised as a maid.

Emily's brain stuttered for a moment and she shook her head in utter disbelief.

"Magee? You are... Are you insane?"

Magee closed the door behind him and looked at her. "You are an ungrateful woman. I did all of this for you."

Magee had not seen Emily in a very long time. However, the Emily standing in front of him paled in comparison to the Emily he had known before. Her sickly disposition indicated that she not only lost a lot of weight but had become as fragile as a doll, easily broken.

Burning rage hissed through his body. He wondered what Jack had done to this lovely woman! Emily looked nothing like her old self. She was like a withered flower that would die at any moment. It broke Magee's heart to see her like that.

In truth, Emily was doing much better than before, even though her weakened state made Magee assume that Jack must have mistreated her.

Magee really wanted to ask Emily whether she had regretted refusing his help, but he did not utter a single word until Emily asked, "So it was you who left me messages on the leaves, right?"

"Yes, it was me."

Emily almost lost control of herself and jumped up. "So you mean to tell me that Jacob is still alive, right?"

"Take a guess?" Magee winked at her.

"Please! Just tell me directly, please," Emily pleaded anxiously.

Magee stared into her hopeful eyes and decided not to keep her in suspense any longer. "Yes, he is still alive. I found some clues about him."

"But I saw his body with my own eyes..." Emily interrupted.

"There are many people who look alike in the world. I don't know what Jack had done to make it look like that was Jacob's body, but I can assure you that wasn't Jacob. It was his brother, Jasper."

Sparks went off inside Emily's brain, as she desperately tried to connect the dots. Before long, it all started to make sense to her. "But, do you have any proof to convince me that..."

"Knock, knock, knock." A knock at Emily's door interrupted her.

The maid outside the door asked, "My lady, I noticed that you had the lights in your room turned on. I was wondering if you needed any help?"

Emily cast a short glimpse to Magee and answered in a calm tone, "I am fine, thank you. I just got up to have some water."

"All right, my lady." The maid walked away from the door.

Emily quickly turned off the lights to keep from drawing any attention. Magee took off the maid's dress which hid his shirt and pants inside. "I do not have proof but I can help you find him. Only if you'll trust me," Magee whispered.

"Why do you want to help me?"

"I do everything depending on my mood,"

Magee answered and snickered to himself.

If Magee really knew the answer to Emily's question, he would not have wasted his time standing there dressed like a maid.

At this point, Emily did not have the luxury to debate whether Magee was lying to her or not as all her attention was focused on the possibility that Jacob was still alive, out there, somewhere. Whether the news was true or not did not matter to her as she intended to look for the truth herself. "So what's your escape plan?"

"As long as you trust me, everything will be fine," he said.

"Okay." Emily reached out to shake Magee's hand to show her gratitude. "It doesn't matter whether the result is good or bad. I'd like to thank you for your help anyway."

The sight of Emily's skinny hand, drove Magee mad with anger. 'What on earth did Jack do to you?' Magee yelled in his mind. Magee did not shake her hand, instead he said, "Just wait for my signal later."

...

Jack had been so preoccupied with work lately that he wasn't able to see Emily for several days. Finally he had some spare time to go and see Emily at the mountain villa.

For reasons unknown to him, Jack had a foreboding feeling that he was going to lose something precious to him, so he couldn't help feeling restless.

"Clap." Jack spilled coffee on an important document by mistake. He frowned and shook his head in disappointment.

The secretary noticed the weariness in Jack as he helped to clear the table and comforted him, "Mr. Jack, please go and get some rest."

Jack stared at the spilled coffee and became more anxious. Finally, he stood up and left the office to get to his car downstairs.

The weather wasn't favorable that night either. Attacks of lightening burst on the streets, and steadily made its way from one end of the city to the other.

Jack drove his car back to the villa at full speed as he needed to see Emily at that instant! He was haunted by a frightening thought that once he had missed her this time, he would never see her again in his entire lifetime!

'No matter what happens tonight, I need to see her right now! I need to be with her now!' Jack pressed the accelerator harder. Jack was like the greedy dragon from old tales, which guarded its treasure from other people even though, the treasure it was protecting was stolen from others.

And Emily was just his treasure!

'No one can touch you or take you away from me! No one!' Jack narrowed his eyes, feeling determined.
