( Huo Siqian, What Are You Trying to Do? (9)

“Mhm.” Mrs. Qin nodded, her gaze fixed on the doors of the OR as she held Huo Mian’s hand.

Huo Mian tried calling Qin Chu, but no one picked up. Therefore, she called Yang, who told her that Qin Chu was video-conferencing the executives, trying to come up with a plan to save the company.

He had been in the conference room for more than two hours since the company was just about to go up in flames. Xu Changzhi’s arrest pushed GK to the teeth of the storm.

Huo Mian was originally going to ask his in-laws who Xu Changzhi was. Apparently, this man was close to Qin Yumin and was considered a long-term employee of GK.

Huo Mian had never met Xu Changzhi because he mainly dealt with GK’s overseas business. He came back a few days ago to see his family but was arrested by ICAC.

Everything happened so suddenly…

Just then, the doors of the operating room opened and Huo Mian and Mrs. Qin ran up to the doctor.

Mrs. Qin asked anxiously, “How is my husband?”

“He’s stable for now.”

Upon hearing this, the two of them sighed in relief.

Then, Doctor Liu glanced profoundly at Huo Mian and said, “Dr. Huo, come with me. I’ll give you some medicine to feed to the patient later.”

Huo Mian was smart enough to know that Dr. Liu wanted to talk to her in private.

After entering his office, Dr. Liu took off his mask and said with a serious expression, “Dr. Huo, your father-in-law isn’t doing so well.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Mian’s heart sank…

“What’s his current diagnosis?” she said worriedly.

“The result came back, we’ve confirmed that the black shadow in his head is a tumor. Perhaps something’s upsetting him, but the tumor is growing fast. The last CT showed that it was the size of a grain of rice, but now it’s the size of a soybean.”

Huo Mian didn’t say anything, but her heart felt as heavy as a rock…

“You’re a doctor too, Dr. Huo, you know what this means… the brain is sensitive, and it’s dangerous when there’s something growing and pressing against it… Him fainting is just one of the many side effects. If he doesn’t undergo brain surgery, he might become completely paralyzed…”

“I know.” Huo Mian’s heart sank.

“I think you know why I asked you to come, you and your family should make a decision soon. Right now, he has two options: one, a craniotomy, but it’s dangerous because the tumor is located in the center of the brain. If it’s malignant, the tumor may spread after surgery. The other option is a more conservative treatment, but it’s just a stalling tactic. His life would still be in danger if the tumor spreads.”

Huo Mian looked down with a serious expression on her face. “Okay, I understand and will talk about it with my husband and mother-in-law. Thank you, Dr. Liu.”

“You’re welcome, but you need to make a decision as soon as possible. I don’t think the patient will be able to hold on much longer…”

“I will.” Huo Mian walked out of Dr. Liu’s office with tears in her eyes. She hid in a corner and quietly wiped away her tears.

Qin Yumin was a conservative man, but he had a heart made of gold and treated her very well. She would die of guilt if her father-in-law died before getting to see his grandchild…

She had discussed her father-in-law’s conditions with Qin Chu but didn’t think the tumor would grow so fast.

After wiping off her tears, Huo Mian walked into the VIP room.

“Mian… what did Dr. Liu say? What’s going on with your dad?”
