Season 10

Episode 57

(I Will Take the Heat for You (8)

“Mom!” Su Yu was on the verge of having a breakdown.

“What?” Mrs. Su answered calmly as she sipped tea.

“Be honest, was I given to you in a buy one get one free promotion or something?”

“Sorry, when you were born, buy one get one free promotion wasn’t a popular thing yet,” Mrs. Su replied even more calmly.

“Mom, why did you do that to me!” Su Yu scrunched up his face and felt like crying. That photo was the most awkward photo of his life! Why did Huo Mian have to see it? He wanted to just shoot himself in the head. It’s awkward to be embarrassed in front of your crush.

“I didn’t do anything to you. That was a very cute photo of you. You should thank me if Huo Mian falls in love with you because of that photo.”

“What if Huo Mian decides to start avoiding me because of that photo?” Su Yu asked.

“Oh,” Mrs. Su said, a little startled, and continued, “I didn’t think about that.”

“Gee, thanks Mom…” Su Yu rubbed his temples in distress. Suddenly, he ran up the stairs to grab the photo album.

“Yu, where are you going with that?”

“I’m locking it in my safe at the bank, just in case you decide to embarrass me again.”

Mrs. Su was left speechless.

On his way to the bank, Su Yu received a call from an unfamiliar number.

“Su Yu, It’s Min.”

“I’m Xu Jiamin, you dummy!” Very much like Xu Jiamin, she sounded extremely joyful on the other end of the phone.

“Who’s Xu Jiamin?” Su Yu asked again. It wasn’t because he didn’t care, he just didn’t care enough to remember her name. In all honesty, he couldn’t even recall the daughter of Mayor Song. It was Song something Shi, maybe Song Xiaoshi? Song Meishi? Who cares, it wasn’t his business anyway.

“Sh*t, are you being serious right now? You just saw me a while back, my grandpa took me to visit you…”

At the sound of that, the lightbulb in Su Yu’s head went off. “Oh, it’s you! What do you want?”

“I can’t just call you?”

“Of course you can’t, I’m a busy person.”

“Can you get me Ni Yang’s autograph? I really like him, but he hasn’t been updating his fans, and no one in the fan group knows what’s going on. Did he go on a vacation? He hasn’t updated his Weibo either, I’m worried.”

“First of all, let me make something clear, little girl… Ni Yang is under GK.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Why are you here asking me if you already know?”

“The news is saying you and Huo Mian are having an affair. That woman is also Ni Yang’s sister, so of course, I’m asking you.”

“I have nothing to say to you, bye.”

Su Yu hung up the phone angrily. Xu Jiamin called back immediately, but he simply put his phone on silent.

The butler walked over as soon as Huo Mian arrived at South Hill Manor.

“Young Madam, dinner is ready.”

“Okay,” Huo Mian responded happily. Even though Mrs. Su had genuinely prepared a seafood feast for her, she left feeling hungry.

Initially, she thought Mrs. Su was going to lock her down, or even worse, kill her. But not only did she leave safely, but she also discovered a secret – Su Yu’s mother was very innocent and pure. She even confessed his son’s feelings to his crush. She was, hands down, the best mother in the world.

A sudden WeChat message notification pulled Huo Mian out of her thoughts.

“Little Sister Mian, weren’t you coming to the company? I’ve been waiting for you the entire day.”

“I forgot,” she replied to Huo Siqian as she stuffed a chopstick full of rice in her mouth.

“Then come tomorrow, Dad renewed the documents.”

“How have you been with Qin Chu?” he asked.

“Not very good. We haven’t been talking to each other and are living apart. I’m at the South Hill Manor, and he’s at Imperial Park,” Huo Mian said intentionally.

“Oh, really?” Huo Siqian chuckled slightly but asked in disbelief.

“Nothing slips through your fingers, shouldn’t you already know?” Huo Mian questioned back.

“So, what’s your plan then? I hope you’re not going to wave a white flag in defeat against Song Yishi. That’s not really your style. Do you need my help?” Huo Siqian probed.
