IN LOVE WITH A SOLDIER
(Where is your mummy (1)
Suddenly, the room seemed to be very strange to her. Cherry felt that it was full of secrets that she didn't have a clue about, and wondered, 'Can it be true that I'm no longer the mistress of this house? Has everything changed in the passed five years?'
An idea then suddenly came into her mind, and she wanted to discover the unrevealed details hidden in her former home.
Cherry started to rummage around in the study. She removed all the books off the self and carefully searched through them.
She eventually gave up searching after she found nothing suspicious there, and then sat down on the bed and started to think about the receipt. Why had Jackson transferred so much money to Sally?
Cherry's eyes then suddenly shifted to the picture on the bedside table. It was her wedding picture with Jackson.
Cherry picked it up and closely looked at it, and felt bitter inside.
'Jackson, you told me that you will love me with all your life, and you told me that the most important thing is to be honest with one another, but why do you still keep things about you and Sally hidden away from me? Is it because you want to protect her? Or that you're still in love with her?'
She was shocked by what she saw.
She saw Stephen in one of them, with whom she was very familiar, and she couldn't help but go through several more pictures.
She saw Stephen's face again in one of the pictures, talking to someone who had his back turned towards the camera.
Although she didn't see the man's face, his silhouette caught Cherry's attention. Why did it seem so familiar to her? Had she met the man before?
Cherry tried very hard to recall the man. She remembered whose silhouette it was, because it looked very similar with the one that she had once saw standing beside Sally one time.
Cherry looked closely to the picture again and compared it with the image she had in her mind. Finally, she was sure that it was the same with the person that she was thinking of, but why was Stephen with that person?
Cherry shivered a little when a sudden thought came into her mind. Could it be that Sally and Stephen knew this person at the first place?
Then, Cherry suddenly heard the sounds of footsteps, and she quickly put the pictures back into the drawer and closed it.
Cherry didn't notice that there were three words written on the back of the picture.
Bill walked to the door of her former bedroom, and when he saw Cherry sitting on the bed, he said, "Mrs.
Cherry, it's getting late. Should we leave now?"
Cherry knew that Bill wanted to take her back home.
Before she replied, she picked up the frame from the bedside table and took her wedding picture out of it.
She then said, "We can go now." Cherry stood up from the bed with the picture in her hand and followed Bill out of the apartment.
On their way back home, Bill saw in the rearview mirror that Cherry couldn't keep her eyes off of the picture.
He said, "Mrs. Cherry, if you miss the things in the old house, I can move them to the villa for you next time."
"No, that's alright, " declined Cherry.
She didn't looked at Bill, because her eyes were still on the photo, and continued to say, "I was just thinking about this picture, it was taken on the day that Jackson and I got married."
Bill smiled and said, "Mrs. Cherry, why not take another picture if you like it so much? There are three of you now, you should have a family photo."
Cherry thought that it was actually a great idea.
She looked at the photo, and thought to herself, 'Jackson, would you like to take a family photo with us?'
After they got back home, Cherry sat back on the sofa and asked Lily to bring her a glass of water.
Cherry happened to notice that Bill had put the car keys on the shoe cabinet, and suddenly an idea came into her mind. With that thought, Cherry's look in her eyes deepened, and a complex feeling overwhelmed her.
It was past six when Joe finished his homework, and when he ran downstairs, he saw that his Mommy was watching her soap opera.
Joe then ran in front of his mother, and said, "Mommy, don't you think that you look like a little girl? A little girl who likes watching soap operas?"
Cherry looked at her son and laughed. She said, "There are tones of handsome guys in soap operas, and I like to see handsome guys."
Joe pouted and then stood in front of the TV to block her Mommy's sight. He said, "You already have Daddy and me, aren't we enough for you? Do you think that there are other guys more handsome than Daddy and me? But I have to say, I'm a little bit more handsome than Daddy is."_______
